AcTherm Ex Low Φ Factor Adiabatic Calorimeter, Industry Leader The AcTherm Ex is a computer-controlled low Φ factor adiabatic accelerating calorimeter. Using only a reaction scale of 10-100mL, the AcTherm Ex can accurately simulate the behavior of larger chemical reactors on a factory scale. It can directly characterize the hazards caused by any condition changes in exothermic reactors, and the data can also be directly used for stockpile design.
Main Features of AcTherm Ex:
· The test cell materials include glass and various metals for screening experiments. Test cells with volumes of 10mL or higher can be used, with a maximum of 20mL for high-pressure testing. The sample cell is equipped with integrated stirring and automatic heating/cooling functions, unique insulation design and structure, which allows for precise control and sealing of the sample temperature and test cell.
· The integrated design of mechanical stirring function and stirring cell with unique insulation ensures effective stirring, significantly improving the test results for non-ideal mixtures.
· Temperature detection uses fast-response temperature sensors that directly contact the sample.
· Pressure detection includes separate measurements for sample pressure, internal chamber pressure, and internal-external pressure differential. The standard configuration has a maximum pressure of 2000PSI (138Bar), with higher pressures available on custom order.
· Exothermic detection sensitivity ranges from 0.005 to 0.2°C/min, with exothermic reaction tracking rates exceeding 200°C/min.
· Features automatic pressure tracking compensation to ensure the safe use of low and medium test cells, with a standard pressure compensation rate of 200 (optional 700) Bar/min.
Key Data Obtained:
· Data that can be obtained from adiabatic calorimeters.
· Uncontrolled data for vent/pipe design.
· Explosion behavior data (gas explosion type, deflagration type, mixed type).
· Flow type data (two-phase or single-phase).
· Additional kinetic data (TMR, TNR).

Applications of AcTherm Ex:
· Without the need for large-scale simulated reactions, inferences, or other expensive experimental conditions, the AcTherm Ex can directly measure the consequences and hazards of uncontrolled large-scale reactions.
· The AcTherm Ex can simulate emergency quenching devices to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency operations.
· Rational vent design based on data obtained from the AcTherm Ex can prevent equipment damage caused by residual reactions.
· Through the gas distribution system and external analytical instruments, the generated gas and two-phase flow rate during reactions can be detected, and the data can be used for external storage tank design.
· Any slight changes in the Φ factor will lead to significant differences in reaction rates. The AcTherm Ex can maintain consistency with factory-scale reaction conditions (such as low Φ factor) and obtain safety/hazard data that is closer to factory scale.
